Artist Biography
Elena E. Wyatt was born in Chattanooga, TN to an immigrant mother and American father. Growing up, Elena recognized how much tradition and family roots intertwined within different countries. This formed a deep appreciation of cultures and expanded self identity. She participated in community murals, exhibitions and enjoyed days of sign painting next to her father. Living amongst the hills, Elena also gathered creative inspiration from the valleys of Tennessee and the surrounding nature trails filled with native rocks, flowers and animals.
By 2012, Elena ventured towards northeast Tennessee to study Studio Art at ETSU with a concentration in painting. While in school, she explored the arts beyond painting and found endless possibilities for clay within her work. This encouraged her to fly to Italy to study abroad with a focus on ceramics. Her work explores a wide range of ideas around family, nature, and social issues using mixed media. Elena’s artwork has been exhibited nationally and is held in private collections throughout the United States.
Elena currently resides near Chattanooga on top of Signal Mountain, TN with her nine ducks, three dogs, two cats, and one super smartypants husband. She has transformed her hands from holding art supplies to using them as tools for relaxing the body as a licensed massage therapist. The art of massage has opened a new form of expression and shares an uplifting tenderness within human connections. Elena continues to learn creative ways to form thoughtful expressions via craft building, art making and new massage techniques.
